Let’s talk sustainability! Our joint venture facility in Guangzhou, Autoneum Nittoku, recently welcomed 30 members of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. This organization is recognized by the European Commission and Chinese authorities as the official voice of European business in the country. The main theme of the visit: Autoneum’s contribution towards a more sustainable automotive industry. Presentations focused on the plant’s extensive use of recycled materials, key efforts in reclaiming and reusing production waste as well as lean manufacturing processes. After all: It takes a joint effort to create a sustainable future – and the afternoon in Guangzhou filled with passionate discussions and productive knowledge sharing on this important topic illustrates one great way to get there!

The Chinese automotive market has recovered quickly from the coronavirus outbreak – and our colleagues in Yantai are along for the ride! After what can only be called an extraordinary year, the plant is the first Autoneum location in China to win the "Best Supply Chain CAC Award". The winner of this award – “CAC” stands for customer, agility, collaboration – is chosen among more than 300 suppliers by Shanghai GM Dong Yue, General Motors' Chinese joint venture, for which Autoneum produces carpets and inner dashes. Our colleagues stood out for their excellent performance in terms of on-time delivery, service quality, responsiveness to customers and supply chain management. Congratulations to the whole Yantai team on this much-deserved reward for their efforts in a challenging time!

Today is Global Recycling Day! First celebrated in 2018, this worldwide initiative aims to recognize the important role recycling plays in preserving natural resources and thus, ultimately, the future of our planet. At Autoneum, we are also pulling our weight by constantly striving to reduce waste in our production processes. In line with today’s theme #RecyclingHeroes, we would like to highlight Autoneum’s very own “sustainability champions”: our Autoneum Pure products. They are all made partially or entirely from recycled materials, thereby ensuring a high sustainability performance along their entire life cycle. The numbers speak for themselves: In 2020, 46000 tons of recycled cotton and 5000 tons of recycled PET were used for Autoneum Pure components! Tick-tock… Did you know that the ticking of a clock is louder than the average sound level in our acoustic centers? In an environment of less than 20 decibel (dB), our experts carry out a wide variety of simulations and tests on cars in order to find the optimum acoustic package for each model. Autoneum operates six acoustic centers worldwide in close proximity to automobile manufacturers. In this way, our specialists can offer their support directly on site during all project phases – this not only lays the foundation for long-term partnerships, but it is also an important part of Autoneum’s strategic priority to be the preferred partner of our customers! Autoneum takes action for equality! In honor of International Women’s Day 2021, we invited our employees to show their dedication to gender equality by sending in a picture with one hand held high. However, promoting equal opportunities for everyone does not end with sharing some symbolic photos on social media. At Autoneum, we are continuously striving to build and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion: Among other things, we have committed ourselves to increasing the share of women in management positions to 30% by 2025 as part of our Advance Sustainability Strategy. Today especially, we would like to thank all of our female employees worldwide for their valuable contribution to our Company – let’s continue together on the road of making our strategic targets a reality! #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021
