Women make history when they find each other. Especially this past year, they used our apps to connect and collaborate with one another. In this chapter of Women x Women, we asked Meet Me At The Altar — a band who is redefining punk rock with their unique take on the genre — to tell us what women supporting other women means to them and how that support has positively affected their lives.

“I feel like the best way we empower women is just being that band for them and being that representation that we have been looking for, for so many years.” - Ada, Drummer

“We're super outspoken about the lack of diversity and representation. And I think that's really good for people to know that we're aware of it and we're talking about it.” - Téa, Guitarist

“We get so many DMs on Instagram from people being like, ‘Thank you so much. I wanted representation and I never had it, but now I do. And I'm so grateful for you guys.’ It’s been really rewarding to read all of them.” - Edith, Singer

Women make history when they find each other. Especially this past year, they used Facebook to collaborate and create positive change. Despite the gender wage gap and being disproportionately affected by COVID-19, women donated 64% of the $1.8B raised on the Facebook app in 2020.

In this chapter of Women x Women, we wanted to highlight Eco-Soap Bank — one of the nonprofits that benefited from women’s support. Eco-Soap Bank employs marginalized women to collect leftover hotel soap. Then, they recycle it and make it available to communities that might lack access to everyday hygiene.

Eco-Soap Bank has used Facebook App and Instagram to help distribute 4M bars of soap and employ 154 women.

[Nanny Tees, Part Three]: The past year has been incredibly difficult for nannies. While some nannies had their hours cut or even lost their jobs completely, others had their hours skyrocket, making it impossible to hang on to any work-life balance. Nannies were seeking some form of support and community due to the stress from 2020. They found all that and more in Nanny Tees.

“There’s always somebody else out there going through the same struggle as you. The pandemic affected everybody. Everybody. Some nannies were let go without pay. Some were told ‘don’t come back until we know you’re clear of COVID.’ Some nannies moved in. We just wanted to be that safe place for nannies.” - Stephanie, Founder of Nanny Tees

From Facebook Live Q&A sessions to motivational quotes on Instagram, Stephanie has turned Nanny Tees into the ultimate destination for nannies seeking education, advice or a smile.

“Nanny Tees definitely has grown stronger, and I feel like the nanny community has gotten closer because of it. We’ve become more of a family.”
